I started to feel a little burnt out and lazy this week. I’m not sure if it was affected by the fact that I knew it was a slight cutback week with only 3 days of running, but I definitely didn’t feel like going above and beyond. AJ was out of town for work for two weeks, and I slept really poorly while he was gone, which basically reduced my motivation to zero. I even skipped a scheduled barre class on Thursday morning because I was so exhausted! Yikes.
- Monday: Barre class, 50 Shades of Glutes – dumbbells
- Tuesday: 3 mile run and 30 minutes on the bike trainer (12.2 miles)
- Wednesday: 60 minutes on the bike trainer (24.1 miles)
- Thursday: 5 mile run
- Friday: Barre class in the morning
- Saturday: 12 mile long run!
- Sunday: Off
While it probably doesn’t look like I took it easy last week, I definitely felt like I did. I just wasn’t feeling it. While I did consider forcing myself through the workouts, that seemed silly. I felt that I had more to gain from a few extra hours of sleep than I did from pushing my way through another workout, as much as I hated to admit it.
I think my efforts were rewarded, because I had a great long run on Saturday! Amanda was in town and we ran with my friends Chuck, Bobbi and Sarah. Those three are quite a bit faster than we are, and I knew running with them would be a challenge. They took it easy (for them) but it was a good push for us – we ended the run at 9:07 pace, no walking, and only one quick stop to grab water. I was really encouraged by this run because it never felt too hard, but I did have to work for it. It was a good confidence booster!
Although I didn’t plan on taking Sunday off, my resting heart rate was noticeable higher than usual in the morning and I hadn’t taken a rest day in two weeks. I felt like laying on the couch with AJ and binge watching House of Cards, so that’s exactly what we did. Yes, my life outside of work and blogging consists predominantly of working out a lot, binge watching television series, and eating Mexican food. I’m not even sorry.
