I’m not widely known for my love of healthy foods. I try to eat them, and every once in a while I am pleasantly surprised, but it’s really not my thing. When I attended the Fitbloggin’ Conference in Portland back in June, we were showered with tons of free samples for all sorts of protein bars, puddings, workout supplements, drinks, etc. They had all sorts of fun facts about them. Some were low carb, some were low sugar, some were made completely of soy, etc.
Almost all of them were pretty gross or contained ingredients I can’t have.
A little company called Lenny & Larry’s gave us a sample of three “fit brownies,” their new product. I had never heard of the company before, but I had eaten plenty of bars that claimed to be flavored like brownies or cookie dough or chocolate or actual tasty things. Side note: the company has been around for 15 years and I have never heard of them. That’s how much I hate healthy food. As you can imagine, I was skeptical. How many times have you eaten some healthy pre or post workout bar that promised to taste like a thin mint and tasted like garbage instead? Exactly. Every time.
So anyway, I tried the brownies and I was extremely impressed. They actually tasted like real food! I mean, would I mistake it for a brownie I make myself? No, I’m not going to lie. I would not. But they do taste like real chocolate without that weird protein-y aftertaste that accompanies so many workout bars. The best part? They’re high in protein (2o grams!) so you’re able to fuel your body without a ridiculous amount of calories or fat. I was sent a box of assorted brownies and was able to try three varieties – Chocolate Decadence, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Raspberry. I was expecting to only like the Chocolate Decadence, but I surprised myself by genuinely enjoying them all. Well done, Lenny & Larry’s!
What I hadn’t tried yet was the “Complete Cookies” offered by Lenny & Larry’s. When they offered to send me some to try, I was pretty excited. I had remembered how much I enjoyed the brownies, and if there is one thing I like better than brownies, it’s probably cookies. But again, a healthy cookie? Hmm. Well, when they arrived, I quickly checked out the packaging.
What did I immediately notice? The top right corner, which states that they are vegan and feature no dairy but lots of protein. Ugh, these cookies are vegan protein cookies? No offense, vegans, but kill me. Now I was even more skeptical. I was sent six flavors: Pumpkin, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, Lemon Poppyseed, and Double Chocolate.
They are ridiculously good.
They’re moist, they taste exactly like a normal cookie, and they’re just all around delicious. I honestly couldn’t believe it. I’m not exaggerating when I say I would eat one for dessert. Since I received them, I’ve eaten one for breakfast every morning. I find that they’re filling and hold me over for a few hours till lunch without making me feel stuffed.
The nice people at Lenny & Larry’s were kind enough to not only send me samples to review, but they also offered to provide a giveaway for a lucky reader! Seriously, you are lucky. The giveaway will end on Thursday, September 12 at 11:59 pm Eastern, so don’t wait to enter!
Can’t wait? A little birdie told me that Lenny & Larry’s is having a sale on their Fit Brownies starting Friday, September 6, and you can get them for 12/$12! They normally retail at 12/$20, so this is a HUGE deal!
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review. However, I did receive samples of Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookies and Muscle Brownies for free in exchange for my review and hosting this giveaway. This opportunity was provided by Lenny & Larry’s. All opinions are mine, and not always 100% positive.
