Well, I promised you guys I wasn’t done with racing and I wasn’t done with adventure, and I just got handed both on a silver platter. As most of you know, I am a columnist for the print edition of Women’s Running Magazine and am also one of their featured bloggers, meaning I produce content that is unique to their website and separate from anything you’ll see here on the blog. I’ve been working with them for a little over a year and a half now, and I love writing for this magazine. And guess what? It turns out they love me back, because they asked me to go on a press trip for the magazine!
I’m leaving TODAY (December 3) for the Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10k in Negril, Jamaica!
I’ll be running the half marathon and covering the entire weekend for Women’s Running (Thursday – Sunday)! The race is Saturday, December 5 at 5:15 am (eek!) and, since bringing my phone with me for Route 66 was such a success, I will likely be doing that as well to take pictures, even though I won’t be able to upload them in real time without WiFi. Still, stay tuned to my social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook) to see pictures throughout the trip first!
The whole situation came up very suddenly and sort of last minute, but I think it is serendipitous and the opportunity could not have better timing! Although I’m not expecting it to be a fast half marathon (due to the 90 degree heat -woof- and the pictures I’ll be taking), I can’t wait to experience the party atmosphere the race is so famous for!
When one door closes, another one opens, right? Ya mon!
